Dalston market, Ridley road

Dalston is the new big thing they say. Olympics 2012 are getting closer and closer and transport of London finally did a great job (after 2 years of torturing us with East London line’s closer)- they almost finished East London Overground. It suddenly became so easy to move around and many new places are yet to be discovered. And, this new rail service has air conditioning!

Dalston- former village found around 1742, changed its rural landscapes for the urban shapes in 19th century. Now Babylonian mixture of everyone and everything. And the Ridley Road market is its perfect showcase. Here you can buy ridiculously cheap fruits and veggies, fresh fish from the street vendors and meat from many butchers; you can also buy reggae CDs, hair extensions, fake watches and fragrances, frying pans, Bob Marley portraits, £1 nail varnish, 6 avocados per £1,ready made curtains and other things you might need for your household.

It is very crowdy and you have to be patient because it is very popular with locals looking for a bargain.

Even if you don’t need anything- perfect place to learn about people of different cultures and to make Magnum worth lomographs about this amazing melting pot.
